Mohammad Khaliqi, who is also suspected of assaulting a woman inside a grocery store on April 2, faces charges of sexual assault during burglary, false imprisonment and assault with intent to commit a felony.“He is acting on impulse and grabbing random strangers,” prosecutor Bret Wasley said in a press conference outside of the courthouse. “This is a terrifying case.”After his most recent attack on the young teen, police posted Khaliqi’s picture and asked the public to help identify him.A person who was renting a room to Khaliqi saw his pictures on a television news report and contacted San Jose police.Officers traced Khaliqi to San Leandro, about an hour away from his home on Troy Drive. In addition to fleeing his home, Khaliqi had also altered his appearance by shaving his beard and cutting his hair.Khaliqi is behind bars without bail.
